Does Island Aviation have family trips?
We offer a wide range of Family Adventures around the North Island. The minimum age (for Family trips) varies depending on destination, and we have set minimum ages to ensure that the included activities suit each age range. Additionally, you’ll notice that some of the more adventurous destinations have a higher minimum age. Please click here full details and FAQs associated with our Family Adventures.
Who are Waiheke Wingers?
Our adventures are for travellers with a yearning to get off the beaten track. Whether you’re travelling solo, with a group of friends, or are aged 18 or 70, there is an adventure to suit your interests and comfort level.
How many people will be on my trip?
Good things come in small packages, which is why we keep our group sizes down.
Are there age restrictions on your trips?
There are no age restrictions though each passenger must ear a seatbelt at all times.
I’m travelling alone – is that OK?
Yes!
If I am travelling solo, will I be charged a premium?
Answer…
When should I turn up?
Passengers are expected to arrive at our base 10 minutes prior to departure time.
What should I wear?
Footwear: Our plane visits a variety of destinations and we can land at a variety of airports,
aerodromes, airfields and strips. Passengers will need to be aware that facilities and conditions at their departing point and destination may vary. Passengers should therefore wear closed shoes.
Clothing: Passengers should dress appropriately for the weather. The temperature in the plane will be similar to outside.
Please note there is a luggage weight limit of 15 kg per person on board the aircraft. Luggage over 5kg must be made aware to Auckland Seaplanes prior to check-in. Luggage over 15 kgs can be arranged by notifying Island Aviation staff
What can I not bring?
If passengers have dangerous goods, they must declare them. Many dangerous goods can be carried on board but carrying certain dangerous goods may be considered an offence and could result in prosecution.
Island Aviation requires passengers to provide individual passenger weights. If an individual passenger’s weight exceeds 110 kg please inform our staff prior to the event.
Island Aviation prides itself on being pest free. Our aircraft are licensed by the Department of Conservation and the Auckland Council to visit pest free islands in the Hauraki Gulf. Please prepare for your trip by being alert for stowaways such as Argentine ants, rainbow skinks, soil, seeds, mice or rats.
Prior to departure:
• Check that your bags are clean and free of stowaways and then seal them tight as soon as you have packed them.
• Make sure all food is packed at source and sealed in plastic pest proof containers with a lid. Ensure cardboard boxes are closed and taped – there must be no opportunity for a pest to access the box in transit.
• Thoroughly check any camping gear or overnight gear for stowaways. Gear that has been stored is high risk.
